This is a Developer Diary for Tales of Xdripia: The Seventh Amulet. Production continues on Unreal Engine 5.8. Official site: talesofxdripia.com.
Yesterday we covered Dripia, firearms and the pause menu. Today the focus is the world again — terrain, a rocky location in greybox, and title-screen polish.
What changed
Verdalia terrain rebuild. On the morning of 6 November we rebuilt the Verdalia landscape in Unreal Engine 5.8: height data and ground layers are now applied into the playable map. The world is gaining shape beyond characters and menus.
Quarry greybox pass. Overnight into the morning we iterated on a rocky quarry environment — greybox layout plus in-engine shots with a character on set, through a review candidate we are evaluating.
Map asset import. We are importing assets for the maps so locations can move beyond greybox into playable environments.
Title screen presentation. Overnight we iterated title-screen shots (through a v3 pass) to polish how the game introduces itself.
Still in progress
- Verdalia landscape still needs playtesting for scale, ground-layer blending and how props and foliage sit in the scene.
- The quarry is still greybox. Production assets are coming; public frames should avoid unfinished test boundaries.
- Map asset import continues across locations.
- Title presentation: we still need to lock one hero frame that matches the look of earlier posts.
- Overworld locomotion polish continues as support work. No new combat systems to announce.
Why it matters
After yesterday’s Dev Log on Dripia, firearms and the pause menu, today’s studio focus returns to the world — terrain, locations and title presentation in Unreal Engine 5.8 — so the community can see environmental progress on the Unreal port, not only party and UI work.
