This is a Developer Diary for Tales of Xdripia: The Seventh Amulet. Production continues on Unreal Engine 5.8. Official site: talesofxdripia.com.
This update is about the party growing beyond Brad. Dripia steps in as a new party member, alongside new firearms, a tidier approach to visual effects and a new pause menu.
What changed
Dripia steps in. Dripia, a member of the party, now has a first-pass MetaHuman character in Unreal Engine 5.8.
A new firearms system. We built a new firearms system in C++. It lays the groundwork for the party's combat kit.
A tagged VFX catalog. Visual effects are now organized in a tagged catalog, which keeps them consistent across abilities and gear.
Equipment menu polish. The equipment menu got a VFX polish pass, giving each piece a more polished presentation.
A new pause and inventory menu. There is now a new interactive pause and inventory menu.
Still in progress
- Dripia is a first pass. Polish is ongoing.
- Firearms and their VFX still need combat balancing and testing.
- The pause and inventory menu still needs UI/UX polish and QA.
- Hero-dedicated equipment sets are in design, starting with Brad. Nothing is final yet.
Why it matters
The party is taking shape beyond Brad. Weapons, effects and menus are core systems that players will touch at every moment of the adventure, so getting their foundations right now supports everything that comes next in The Seventh Amulet.
